Rain soaked, dreary evening that was full of excitement and a thrilling finish..what more could you ask for in Round 2 of the LHSAA 5A State Playoffs.
The Zachary Broncos and the Hahnville Tigers gave their families and fans certainly one of the best games played in the state Friday night.
What started as a defensive battle between the teams also had it big offensive plays.
Zachary’s offense was lead by Keilon Brown, Chris Hilton and the always exciting Jayden Williams, who kept the offense on the move for the Broncos.
Hahnville’s offense was lead by Junior QB Drew Naquin and Senior running back Darryle Evans (29 carries for 126 yards, and a TD . He also had 2 Receptions for 116 yards, including a 95-yard catch for a TD). Offensively for the Tigers Sophomore wide receiver Troy Kendrick was also a favorite target of the night for Naquin.
It all came down to special teams though and a field goal at the end. The Tigers came up a field goal short of capturing the win. The Zachary Broncos will move on to play the Ruston Bearcats in Ruston on Friday Nov. 29th, 2019.
