Check Out A Few Game Highlights:
Friday night was Week 1 in high school football in the State of Louisiana. As the regular season got underway for many teams across the state, local area teams began their earlier season matchups with top opponents and rivalries. There are none bigger then The Battle of the Feliciana’s also known as The Battle of Thompson Creek. The Battle of Thompson Creek pits the two parish high school’s of the Feliciana’s against one another, West Feliciana High School and East Feliciana High School. The Battle Friday night was won in dominating fashion by the Saints with a final score of 58-14.
In a way it was also a David vs Goliath matchup, as East Feliciana suited up 36 players (according to their roster) vs West Feliciana who suited up 90+ players (according to their roster).
Early on East Feliciana showed speed and tenacity on the defensive side of the ball, while it struggled on offense to find a rhythm. However, the lack of depth at roster position and the humidity struck hard on the Tiger players and cramping became an issue in the second half for many players.
Junior QB/ATH Joel Rogers West Feliciana
West Feliciana, on the other hand, appeared to have a strategic plan in place and went about business on the football field putting together successful drives and big defensive stops. Junior QB Joel Rogers was a force with the ball in his hands. Showing a strong throwing arm, he was best known for his running speed and ability to avoid tacklers to extend offensive drives. Rogers accounted for a 50 yard run for his first touchdown of the night. He added a throwing touchdown on the next offensive series, to bring the score to 22-0 in the first quarter. By halftime the game score was 36-8, Saints.
Rogers is listed in the Top 40 in the state for the Class of 2024; however, it is believe by several major college programs that he could crack the Top 25 by the end of the season. He received an offer from Memphis last spring.

Senior Linebacker/Full Back Delvin Whitaker West Feliciana
Senior linebacker and fullback, three-star 6’4″ 250, Delvin Whitaker had three rushing touchdowns on the night for the Saints. Whitaker may be best known on the defensive side of the ball as a feisty and physical linebacker but he is a bull with the ball at fullback. His long runs and pounding running style punished Tiger defenders all night.

Junior 4-Star WR Trey’dez Green East Feliciana
East Feliciana’s, junior four-star wide receiver Trey’dez Green (6’7″ 250), added a receiving touchdown, stretching out the ball over the goal line and breaking the plain to bring the score to 8-22 before halftime (2 point conversion was good). Green accounted for 4 catches on the night for 52 yards and a touchdown for the Tigers.
