Louisiana Camp Brings Out Talented Group Of Prospects

It was back to the “new normal” as the spring and summer camp series has begun, after camps were suspended in 2020 due to Covid-19 concerns.

To say that the prospects were excited and ready to go would be an understatement.

Over 80 Prospects, from The Class of 2022 to 2025, took the field last Sunday at Westgate High School for the Elite Prospect Camp put on by NUC.

Sophomore Highlights:

Overall MVP – 2022 WR Jason Barnes Jr. University Lab, Baton Rouge, LA Evaluation: dynamic athlete on the field of play, plays with a high motor, quickness, agility, and balance are top shelf, good hands, Barnes is a playmaker.

Junior Highlights: 

Defensive Tackle MVP – 2024 DT 6’3″ 290 Talan Bingham Terrebonne High School (LA) Evaluation: slippery, fast/physical hands, good footwork in combination with active hands made him unblockable all day, explosive off the line

Defensive End MVP – 2023 Hybrid OLB/DE Ashley Williams Zachary High School (LA) Evaluation: speed, explosive/disruptive, long lean body frame, long arm extension, very difficult to block

Sophomore Highlights: 

Linebacker MVP – 2022 LB Devaki Williams St. Thomas Aquinas (LA) Will line up at Linebacker and Running Back, physical, quick feet and reads well.  As a running back he uses his physical athletic ability to take on defenders, hard to bring down and shows good blocker skills as well.

Highlights: 

Co-Defensive Back MVP – 2024 DB Erick Franklin Jr. Lake Charles College Prep (LA) Played Varsity as a Freshman, very fluid in back pedal and quick hips, smooth transition to coverage, can play tight coverage or off, recovery speed to be able to jump routes or get up field on run option plays, good speed to stay with the top receivers in long yardage pass plays, high football IQ

Co-Offensive Linemen MVP – 2023 OL 6’4″ 298 Peyton Polk Haughton High School (LA) – big/wide/physical body build, strong upper body and legs, moves well against his opponent, uses hands and feet well together to ward off defender, he is a “Monster” on the oline and doesn’t backdown from a challenge, high ceiling for development

Sophomore Season Highlights; 

Co-Offensive Line MVP – 2022 OL Imani Marcel Lincoln Prep HS (LA) Evaluation: Didn’t lose a rep all day, tough, physical/active hands, moves feet well – with good balance against opposing defenders movements, he can play both sides of the ball as OL or DT, road grader on the offensive line

Highlights: 

Quarterback MVP – 2024 QB Josiah Bushnell Lake Charles College Prep (LA) 4 Sport ATH, Has already topped 85 mph on his fastball per his high school coach. Co-Running Back MVP 2023 RB/ATH Emmanuel Franklin Jr Riverside HS (LA) Evaluation: Spark plug on the field, plays with a very high motor, shifty, burst of speed and acceleration makes it difficult to stop, very good hands, can line up in the slot, come out of the backfield on swing passes, gets up field quickly.  Going to be fun to watch in 2021!!!!  Hudl Link: https://www.hudl.com/profile/10188529/Emmanuel-Franklin

Co-Running Back MVP 2022 RB Tyler Irving James E. Taylor HS (Katy, TX) Evaluation: during 1v1’s great hands, made good adjustments to the ball in the air, physical, and will climb up the ladder to make the catch.  Running the ball, he shows good ball security, physical at the point of contact, keeps his feet moving through contact to avoid the tackle. Made some very hard receptions look easy.  He has a deceptive speed on long pass plays, he will go for the long ball and make the over the shoulder catch with ease.  He makes things happen on the field for his team.

Junior Highlights:

Co – Offensive MVP – 2023 RB Keven Williams Acadiana High School (LA) Evaluation: strong, physical runner, keeps a low pad level, solid burst through the hole, good acceleration in the open field to gain separation, keeps his feet and legs moving with good changes in direction and accel/decel ability to force miss tackles. good hands on pass plays…..The only mission on his mind, Get To The End Zone For A Touchdown!!!

Sophomore Highlights:

C0 – Offensive MVP – 2023 WR Brailon Raymond Westgate High School (LA) Evaluation: High ceiling as a wide receiver, runs crisp routes, good hands, uses his height, arm length and vertical to extend his catching radius, adjust body well to the ball to make difficult catches and gain separation from the defender, very natural and fluid on the field, uses good field vision and focus to make the catch and get up field, he is going to be exciting to watch as he develops
